Six Weeks before move date

Confirm Licensing with the Public Utilities Commission and customer satisfaction history with the Better Business Bureau.
One Month before move date
Reserve your move date. If you are doing your own packing, schedule a date and time for box delivery with All the Right Moves. Ask about our convenient move date wardrobe rentals.
Notify insurance companies, magazines, and other billing agents of your new address. Pick up a change of address form from your local post office.
Begin organizing and packing your attic, basement, and garage items. Make sure that all box seams are sealed with at least 4" of tape to ensure safe handling. Fill in empty spaces with cushioning to prevent shifting in transit. Label each box with a description of the contents and the room to which the box belongs.
Research service providers in your new area and arrange for the transfer of school records.
One to two weeks prior to move
Schedule disconnection for electric, gas, water, and telephone service. Arrange for connection at your new home.
Cancel any other home services you receive such as lawn and home maintenance and cleaning.
Clean the inside of the stove and the top of the range. Clean the inside of the microwave. Clean the inside of the fireplace.
Mail change of address forms. You can also submit this information on the USPS website.
The day before the move
Clean the refrigerator. Defrost the freezer and allow to dry. Wipe out the freezer.
Set aside items that you'll need for the final clean-up such as the vacuum, mops, glass cleaner, etc...
Finish up any last minute packing. If you've arranged for professional packing services, set aside any clothing, toiletries, and other necessities that you will need until your move date.
